Evolution: A Primer (Or Not)

I was thinking, and the Noah’s Ark story seems to support evolution. The Bible does not state explicitly that those animals were created originally. A fairly large number of animals – ones that would probably have had to evolve – had to be taken aboard the ship. There is other biblical evidence suggesting evolution. There was a snake in the Adam and Eve story, suggesting that snakes were present with humans – some creatures apparently predate humans. Another “hole” – though perhaps it is entirely intentional – is that God did not create all life when he created the world (but one could argue he set the potential in place). For example, Jesus is born a long time after Adam and Eve, and if humans had time to evolve, perhaps other animals did as well? Biblical stories about early humans only suggest the existence of a snake but do not mention other animals, suggesting that perhaps there were other animals in existence. This realization strengthens my view that God – Allah in my case, but that is the arabic word for God – created the potential for life and let it evolve and adapt into what he have here.

P.S.

The Earth can’t be 6000 years old if we take the Bible literally. God just created the world and life and humans and all that, but true humanity- Homo Sapiens – has only been around for so long. If God just created the world it would not have taken 6000 years. If he just created Earth for humans then there would be no need for it to be that old. There’s only been a couple millennia or so of actual humans – humans that would worship God. This date of 6000 years seems utterly fictitious to me, no matter what your religious views on its creation.
